Apple announced App tracking features in June 2020 while unveiling iOS14. In iOS 14, users can choose whether to allow apps to track their activity. Apple also requires app developers to self-report permissions their apps request, improving transparency. Users can turn off app tracking for new apps by selecting 'Ask App Not to Track' or 'Allow'. They can also make this change default for all apps in Settings. Existing apps can have their tracking permissions turned on or off individually in Settings. Apple enforces tracking permission and warns developers against tracking users who opt out.
