US-based TV brand Vizio has agreed to pay $3 million to settle a 2018 class action lawsuit alleging false and deceptive advertising of TVs with 120Hz refresh rate marketed as 240Hz 'effective' refresh rates. Vizio will provide enhanced services and a limited one-year warranty to all settlement class members. The lawsuit defines 'effective refresh rate' as a marketing term used by TV makers to refer to motion smoothing features that reduce motion blur.
